When Delicious Monster made headlines, I was frothing at the mouth. It seemed so cool. But I don't have a Mac and realistically won't get one any time soon. :( Now this thing called LibraryThing has turned up, and I am hooked.
Even though I'm a library tech and it seems like it would be a natural thing to do, I've never catalogued my books. I never really felt the desire to. I do love organizing them by subject (NEVER alphabetically!) but even then I'm not too picky. But I had been thinking about how I should have a record of my books, in case my house even burns down or something. Just to keep track, you know. So I've been spending the last little while adding some of my collection and I'm having a lot of fun doing it.
Here's my own LibraryThing. What's neat about the service is that you can tag your own records, share your collection, search others' collections, and uses LC's Z39.50 protocol gateway to access bib records from all over the world. Ubercool.
You can see which users have the same books as you, and who should appear on my list for Eleanor Rigby but a law librarian from Saskatoon, whose name I see every now and then on CALL-L. What are the odds?

A new home library
I developed this home library with my wife. It will allow to catalog not only books but also movies, music, games and software. You can checkout our library at www.gurulib.com/coolabcgirlThe service is completly free and I will keep it that way to pay back for all the free software I have used.
Thanks and Regards
